The 100th Running of The Hambletonian is This Week!

HAPPY HAMBLETONIAN WEEK EVERYBODY!



The field for the 100th running of the Hambletonian is set for this weekend Saturday August 2, 2025.

As always, ten runners will line up for the big event.


Post positions for the Hambletonian/Oaks will be drawn Tuesday July 29, 2025.


The elimination winners are guaranteed post positions 1-6 and they are:

Nordic Catcher S
Super Chapter
Emoticon Legacy

The remaining post positions are up for grabs by these horses:

Maryland
Maximus Mearas S
Greenma
Go Dog Go
Blank
Gap Kronos S
Meshuggah

Once again, Super Chapter was very impressive winning his elimination by 1 3/4 lengths without being asked to give his best.

He won under wrapped up as a very heavy favorite at 1/9.

Look for him to be a heavy favorite again this Saturday, perhaps at 6/5 -- 3/5 is my guess.

The second choice will be Emoticon Legacy, perhaps at 2-1, while Maryland will be the third choice at 3-1.

The rest will be 6-1 or longer.


My longshot play remains Gap Kronos S, perhaps at 10 or 12-1.

I'll wait until the post positions are drawn to make my pick.

As for the Oaks -- it's a wide open race and I don't have an opinion as to which horse to play.
