GOLDEN SLIPPER WEEK THIS WEEK

NEWS HEADLINE:

Ryan Moore, European's top rider, will ride the raging Golden Slipper heavy favorite Storm Boy in next Saturday's $5 million (Aus) race.

Australian top rider James McDonald rode Storm Boy to a dominant Skyline Stakes win last time out on March 2, 2024.

However, now McDonald will ride the second favorite Switzerland instead.

Since both colts are owned by the same ownership, Coolmore Bloodstock, the Golden Slipper is Coolmore's race to loose in any regard for the fact that they have two top world-class jockeys riding the first two heavy favorites in the race.

McDonald didn't seem too upset for being taken off the likely Golden Slipper winner and he had this to say after learning about Coolmore taking him off Storm Boy to ride Switzerland, "When they're first and second favorites, it doesn't really matter which one you'll ride ... you've got a huge chance of winning the Golden Slipper."

He went on to say, "I wouldn't rule out Switzerland storming home over the top of them, don't worry about that."

Translation on this fragment: " ... don't worry about that."

He seems to say:

" ... You just watch! ...," or something of that nature.

So he seems to reveal about his inner resentment for being taken off the likely Golden Slipper winner.

I don't blame McDonald for being upset at all.
