THREE-YEAR-OLD SENSATION KARL IS OUT OF BREEDERS CROWN!
The connections of star three-year-old trotting colt Karl announced on Monday, Oct. 21 that the Hambletonian champion will not be entered to race in this weekend's Breeders Crown.
Trainer Nancy Takter announced that Karl, who qualified for the $600,000 USD Breeders Crown final after a sixth-placed finish in last Saturday's elimination round, scoped sick after that race.
"After discussions with my partners and further tests by our veterinarian, we have collectively decided that it would not be fair to race Karl without being certain of his complete health," said Takter in a social media post on Monday.
"This was a very sad decision to make, but I know it’s the right decision to make. Karl has had an incredible career and has brought us all immense joy and excitement.
I must and will always prioritize his future well-being and ensure he is given the best chance for a healthy recovery."
Takter confirmed with Trot Insider that the future stallion has no more races on his schedule this year.
A Breeders Crown champion during his Dan Patch Award-winning two-year-old campaign, the Tactical Landing-Avalicious colt is a career winner of 18 races and more than $2.4 million from 23 starts with a mark of 1:50.2.
He is owned by Christina And Nancy Takter, Black Horse Racing, Crawford Farms Racing and Bender Sweden Inc.
HAPPY BREEDERS CROWN WEEK, EVERYONE!
