TWO-YEAR-OLD NEW YORK BRED DOMINATED HIS EIGHT RIVALS BY A MASSIVE 17 1/4 LENGTHS
On Sunday November 17, 2024, a NY-bred 2yo colt named Calling Card put on a huge performance at Aqueduct by winning the one-mile maiden special weight race against New York-bred by 17 1/4 lengths, while earning a Beyer Speed Figure of 87.
Calling Card launched a sweeping rally from nearly 10 lengths off the early pace to crush his competition by 17 1/4 lengths in the sharp time of 1:36.36.
There's no telling how good Calling Card is as the competition was somewhat of an unknown quality with Calling Card was the 2-1 morning line favorite and his next morning like competitor was a 5/2 Joker on Fire and the third-choice morning line was Iron Max at 7/2.
Both Joker On Fire and Iron Max ended up as the co-second choice in the betting at 7/2 while Calling Card ended up as the 5/2 betting favorite in the field of nine.
As you can see, he was hardly a prohibitive favorite against his eight NY-bred rivals.
Having said that I think this 2yo NY-bred will turn out to be something special -- and soon enough we'll find out how good of a racehorse Calling Card is when he makes his next start in either of the Remsen (G2) or the Jerome at Aqueduct next month (December 2024).
Stay tuned!
