I don't really have an excuse for his dud performance in the Derby other than to point out the six-week gab between his win in the Virginia Derby and the Kentucky Derby as a factor for his poor performance.

That may have played a role in his poor performance in the Derby and that is what I am assuming.

The good thing about it regarding the Derby was that he wasn't trying at all and it was like a workout performance and not a real race.

He was like jogging and D. Wayne Lukas assistance trainer Bas Nicholl said one day after the race is that the horse came out of the race, "magnificent," Nicholl's exact word.

So it's a sign that the horse is sitting on a huge performance.
