HISA, seeking answers to Churchill fatalities, mulls suspension of racing

Lisa Lazarus, HISA chief, said that she has already had discussions with Churchill officials over the possibility of suspending racing at the track.

Since the track opened for training on March 30, there have been 12 equine fatalities.

Officials from the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority (or HISA) are looking into whether there are common factors underlying a recent spate of equine fatalities at Churchill Downs.

Multiple reviews are expected to continue into Thursday May 31, 2023.

They don't know what the cause of the fatalities?

Okay, this didn't just happen in the last week or so -- it happened since March 30, 2023 and continued to this day.

Don't they have a good idea what the cause of the fatalities?
