Pick for Saturday June 3, 2023:

ONE MILE | PURSE: $99,750 | TROT | THE GRADUATE SERIES STAKES: 4 YEAR OLD OPEN

Track: Woodbine Mohawk Racecourse (Harness racing)

A harness racing?

Yes, you got that right!

Horse racing is a horse racing no matter whether a thoroughbred, a quarter horse, a harness horse, a steeple chase or an Arabian horse racing -- I play them all!

Yes, I'm a horse racing junkie!

Race: 2

Horse: Jiggy Jog S (ML 7-5)

Field (in post position order):

1. Chulo (ML 10-1)
2. Jiggy Jog S (ML 7-5)
3. Looks Like Moni (ML 9-2)
4.Esplosione (ML 10-1)
5.Slay (ML 6-1)
6. Pretender (ML 9-5)

Bet Jiggy Jog S (ML 7-5) to WIN.

BONUS: Also play exacta (straight - no boxing): Jiggy Jog S (ML 7-5) over Pretender (ML 9-5).

Yes, play the first two favorites in a small field.

This might not be as good an exacta as I'd like but a win is a win (rather than chasing some longshots in hope of a big payoff as most horseplayers often do to no avail).

This is the easiest exacta you'll ever going to get on this Saturday card at Woodbine Mohawk.

So take the easy money no matter how small the payoff is.

The same thing can be said for the win -- a win is a win!!!

Race Analysis:

#2 JIGGY JOG S went eight for 13 last season with 11 top two finishes and over $1M in earnings.

She finished off her sophomore campaign with four straight victories and captured the Breeders Crown last October at this same track at Mohawk Park when she trotted her mile in 1:51.1.

So she doesn't have any excuses for not liking the track.

This 10-time winner comes into her aged career with a winning qualifier at the Meadowlands under her belt and should be able to give her male competitors all they can handle in this opening leg of the Graduate Series.

She will work from the inside of the gate and is the clear one to beat (and she will in my opinion -- although she is running against males -- that's a little disadvantage).

#6 PRETENDER reeled off three straight victories by a combined margin of more than nine lengths to kick off his four-year-old campaign but was never a factor against older horses in the Cutler at the Meadowlands in his latest when he finished eighth at 20-1.

He hit the board in 11 of 15 as a sophomore and had a signature victory in the New Jersey Classic and hit the board in both the Goodtimes and the Canadian Trotting Classic over this surface.

This son of Muscle Hill should appreciate facing rivals of his own and should have a fitness edge over the one above.

Update: Saturday June 3, 2023 at 11:00 pm (Central Time Zone)

Jiggy Jog S, driven by Dexter Dunn in her first pari-mutuel start of 2023, romped on the front-end to a 1:50 3/5 win in the first leg of the Graduate Series for 4YO trotters on Saturday night at Woodbine Mohawk Racecourse.

Pretender was second and Slay came in third.

The result is in and here it is (win/place/show/exacta only):

1. Jiggy Jog S (final odd 1-5): $2.60 $2.10 $2.10
2. Pretender (final odd 1-1) $2.60 $2.10
3. Slay (final odd 3-1) $2.20

$2 Exacta (Jiggy Jog S / Pretender) Paid: $5.10

Another pick for Saturday June 3, 2023:

ONE MILE | PURSE: $75,000 | PACE | THE SOMEBEACHSOMEWHERE STAKES: 3 YEAR OLD OPEN

Track: Woodbine Mohawk Racecourse (Harness racing)

Race: 9

Horse: Stockade Seelster (ML 7-5)

Field (in post position order):

1. Blue Hunt (ML 6-1)
2. Gung Ho (ML 8-1)
3. Santana Hanover (ML 10-1)
4. Stockade Seelster (ML 7-5)
5. Moment Is Here (ML 9-5)
6. Day Trader (ML 10-1)
7. Thong Control (ML 10-1)

Bet Stockade Seelster (ML 7-5) to WIN.

BONUS: Also play exacta (straight - no boxing): Stockade Seelster (ML 7-5) over Blue Hunt (ML 6-1).

This might not be as good an exacta as I'd like but a win is a win (rather than chasing some longshots in hope of a big payoff as most horseplayers often do to no avail).

So take the easy money no matter how small the payoff is.

The same thing can be said for the win -- a win is a win!!!

Race Analysis:

#4 STOCKADE SEELSTER was parked-out from the opening marker in the SBOA on May 20th, 2023 and picked up cover in the second-over position on the backside before moving three-wide at the top of the stretch.

He forged his way to the lead in the lane before getting nailed by Write Me A Rose in the dying strides and only missed by a nose under the wire as the 3/5 odds-on choice.

This son of State Treasurer won eight of 11 at the age of two and earned more than $917,000, while dominating his competition at the OSS Gold level and capturing the Metro Pace last September.

He should benefit from getting that effort under his belt and will start from a much more favorable spot on the gate this time out.

#1 BLUE HUNT was at a pace disadvantage in his latest when he got away seventh off the gate and was bothered by a chain reaction from a breaking rival on the turn for home.

This Saturday he'll break from post position #1 and should have no trouble getting away, unlike last out.

He was placed up to fifth in that contest that took place over the sloppy-going but was a runner-up in each of his two efforts before that.

This son of Huntsville has been second or better in eight of his 15 career attempts and will have Dexter Dunn calling the shots for the first time.

He will work from the pole position and can pick up a piece.

Update: Saturday June 3, 2023 at 11:00 pm (Central Time Zone)

Stockade Seelster won the Somebeachsomewhere Stakes on Saturday night at Woodbine Mohawk Racecourse by one length over his main rival Moment Is Here in 1:50.

Moment Is Here was 2nd and Gung HO came in third.

The result is in and here it is (win/place/show/exacta only):

1. Stockade Seelster (final odd 4-5): $3.90 $2.20 $2.10
2. Moment Is Here (final odd 6-5) $2.30 $2.30
3. Gung Ho (final odd 18-1) $2.60

$2 Exacta (Stockade Seelster / Moment Is Here) Paid: $5.70
