Lionel Messi Sweepstake
Messi Turned Down $1 Billion From Saudis to Play for Inter Miami MLS Football Club.
MLS Inter Miami is set to sign Argentine superstar Lionel Messi, beating Barcelona, Saudi Arabia.
Soccer superstar Lionel Messi is officially turning down a ton of money from the Saudis because of his family.
Last week it was reported that Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal had offered Messi $1.2 billion for two years.
According to Argentina News Media FootMercato, Saudi Arabia Al Hilal offered him the biggest contract in history with a contract of 1.2 billion euros over 2 years, or 600 million euros per year and more than double what CR7 currently receives.
However, Messi and his wife Antonela Roccuzzo rejected the offer because they couldn't imagine raising their children in the Gulf.
As for those of you who don't know what CR7 is -- it's an iconic superstar brand which is an acronym for Cristiano Ronaldo and his jersey number 7.
Doting fans commonly refer to the Portuguese superstar as CR7, which today is nothing short of a global megabrand.
